Whether you have MCSE certification, Linux certification, or Cisco certification. Your IT Certification will make you more money in the job market. But don't neglect other job skills that make getting a raise or career advancement a whole lot easier.
Many professionals who are IT certified neglect the basic workplace skills and unconsciously set themselves back. Follow this list to get the most out of your IT certification.
1. Be on your bosses good side. This is rule numero uno. You don't have to kiss butt but the workplace is no place for professional or personal enemies.
2. Do not embarrass your boss, if he or she is wrong tell them behind closed doors, or better yet just keep it to yourself!!
3. Good grooming at work is a must it really pays off.
4. Come to work on time and often, employers don't want to promote you then have to ask the person they bypassed for your promotion to do your work because you have called in sick, AGAIN!
5. Keep your resume current. Sometimes you have to switch employers to get that raise!
6. And for God's sake do not be confrontational with your coworkers, employers don't want to have to be referees, if you show your IT certification and display an ability to work smoothly with others your chances for advancement are much greater.
So definitely get MCSE, RHCE, or CCSP put behind your name, but don't forget all the other things too.
