Linux Ubuntu; Best Buy is selling Ubuntu Linux

Ubuntu Linux is being sold by Best Buy stores. Best buy is selling a boxed version of Ubuntu. The boxed version of Ubuntu retails for $19.99 and comes with free online support for sixty days. There is also a quick start guide that comes with the package to make installing Linux alot easier.

True you can download Ubuntu for free. But this doesn't work for people with dial up or those who are not technically savvy. Plus the downloaded version has to be burned to a CD. Not everyone has a CD burner and not everyone wants to go thru all this trouble just to install Linux.

Overall this is great move for Ubuntu. It is being offered in a mainstream store with free technical support. This means that finally Ubuntu is a bit more plug and play. It also makes Ubuntu easier to give as a gift !!the free technical support and quick start option is the kicker, though. It makes Ubuntu and Linux in general alot less intimidating to try and a;lot more accessible to the general public. I am sure that the Best Buy move will be mirrored by other major retailers pretty soon.

Check with your local Best Buy store to see if they sell the boxed version of Linux Ubuntu. If not they can order it from a store that has and notify you as to when you can pick up.

Ebay Hackers switch from Windows to Linux !!

Ebay has reported that hackers are now using root kitted Linux devices as opposed to their earlier M.O. of using root kitted Microsoft machines. Hackers have realized that the Linux machines allow them to execute more sophisticated attacks on specific networks or on the general public.

But what is most significant about this news is that the hacker switch from Linux to Windows represents a real shift in the mindset of probably the most dedicated and goal oriented computer users on the planet, namely hackers. Imagine if all automobile mechanics switched from Craftsman to Stanley tools and you get the idea !! Windows could really be on the rocks if other groups of hackers duplicate this trend.

Whether you have MCSE certification, Linux certification, or Cisco certification. Your IT Certification will make you more money in the job market. But don't neglect other job skills that make getting a raise or career advancement a whole lot easier.
Many professionals who are IT certified neglect the basic workplace skills and unconsciously set themselves back. Follow this list to get the most out of your IT certification.

1. Be on your bosses good side. This is rule numero uno. You don't have to kiss butt but the workplace is no place for professional or personal enemies.

2. Do not embarrass your boss, if he or she is wrong tell them behind closed doors, or better yet just keep it to yourself!!

3. Good grooming at work is a must it really pays off.

4. Come to work on time and often, employers don't want to promote you then have to ask the person they bypassed for your promotion to do your work because you have called in sick, AGAIN!

5. Keep your resume current. Sometimes you have to switch employers to get that raise!

6. And for God's sake do not be confrontational with your coworkers, employers don't want to have to be referees, if you show your IT certification and display an ability to work smoothly with others your chances for advancement are much greater.

So definitely get MCSE, RHCE, or CCSP put behind your name, but don't forget all the other things too.
