Ebay has reported that hackers are now using root kitted Linux devices as opposed to their earlier M.O. of using root kitted Microsoft machines. Hackers have realized that the Linux machines allow them to execute more sophisticated attacks on specific networks or on the general public.
But what is most significant about this news is that the hacker switch from Linux to Windows represents a real shift in the mindset of probably the most dedicated and goal oriented computer users on the planet, namely hackers. Imagine if all automobile mechanics switched from Craftsman to Stanley tools and you get the idea !! Windows could really be on the rocks if other groups of hackers duplicate this trend.
